6 Unknown Facts About The Nipple

Your Nipples Are Perfect
No two nipples are alike. That means that the two nipples on your body may not be a mirror image of each other. This is normal.
The larger outer ring is your areola. For some women, the areola is light pink. For others, it can be darker and range from red to brown. For some women the areola becomes darker when they’re sexually excited. As a result, some cultures have even been known to paint their nipples to darken them in the hope of inspiring passion in their mates.

Understanding Your Breast

Most women have changes in their breasts during their lifetime. Many of these changes are caused by hormones. For example, your breasts may feel more lumpy or tender at different times in your menstrual cycle.
Other breast changes can be caused by the normal aging process. As you near menopause, your breasts may lose tissue and fat. They may become smaller and feel lumpy. Most of these changes are not cancer; they are called benign changes. However, if you notice a breast change, don't wait until your next mammogram. Make an appointment to get it checked.

5 Things You Should Never Say to a Breast Cancer Survivor

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and there are a ton of things you can do to help fight breast cancer, including hosting or participating in a fundraiser, going pink for October to raise awareness, and more.
But during all the October activities planned to raise awareness about breast cancer, you should also be aware that it’s a sensitive and highly personal subject for people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, whether recently or in the past.
There are nearly 500,000 breast cancer survivors in Nigeria. And not one of them wants you to hear you say the following:

1.”Has it come back? Is it somewhere else?”

Can Breast implant solve underlying self-esteem issues?

A study conducted among 24,600 women by two Université Laval Faculty of Medicine researchers and their colleagues from the Canadian Public Health Agency and Cancer Care Ontario concludes that having breast implants does not increase mortality risk.
However, the study reveals that the suicide rate among women with breast implants is 73% higher than in the general population. These findings are published in a recent issue of the American Journal of Epidemiology.
This finding is not surprising, since many women seek out breast enhancement surgery for reasons of low self esteem or because they lack self-confidence. They believe that the surgery will create a new person that they can then build upon. All too often, however, the surgery only highlights the flaws in the person’s life, as they cope with the pain and recovery of the surgery on their own.
Previous studies have observed that the psychological profile of women who receive breast implants is characterized by low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence, and more frequent mental illnesses such as depression.
Ethical doctors should refer women who have such problems to a therapist or psychologist for treatment before undertaking plastic surgery. Plastic surgery cannot treat a lack of self-confidence or depression.

How chemotherapy works

How chemotherapy kills cancer cells
Body tissues are made of billions of individual cells. Once we are fully grown, most of the body's cells don't divide and multiply much. They spend most of their time in a resting state and only divide if they need to repair damage. When cells divide they split into two, identical new cells. So, where there was 1 cell, there are now 2 and these then divide to make 4 and then 8 and so on.
In cancer the cells keep on dividing until there is a mass of cells. This mass of cells becomes a lump. The lump is called a tumour. Cancer cells divide much more often than most normal cells.
